DoomRL (DRL) has built in controller support.

I used to use Joy2Key to map controls to a gamepad for Infra Arcana, Frozen Depths, Rogue, and a couple others. It's possible for almost any roguelike without too many controls. I tried with angband and Nethack too, but those were a bit much.

the fixed the zr\zl buttons not working. but still no dedicated precise diagonal movement or ascii graphic option. The amiga graphics look terrible in my opinion and can't identify what anything is easily.

Months ago, they claimed they are still working on it, but doubtful.

Got a laptop and found the retro rogue collection. Not playable on a console, but at least a cool way to play on modern pc.

is the android version going to be updated as well? I've had it for some time now.

Been a while but when I finally got a pc again, I was very happy to see this still being updated. Infra Arcana is still my favorite roguelike.

Traditional Roguelikes (Turn Based) / Epyx Rogue for Switch

I was very excited when I saw the old Epyx version of Rogue was coming to switch.

Unfortunately, in recent years, I find myself without a pc. So I have been missing out on all of my favorite rougelikes, such as nethack, zinfra Arcana, Moria, and the original Rogue.

I was so psyched when my friend told me the original Rogue was coming to Switch.

I bought it automatically.

It turns out that it is a very poory emulated port of the commercial amiga version.
It has several really bad bugs. The RZ and LZ button functions do not work at all as stated on the overlay.
Plus, there are instancces that require "clicking" on yes or no that is simply not possible.

A very shoddy port. I emailed the devs and publishers with no reply from them. And still no update.

I thimk it cost $8 or $10. Still too much for such a poor port in my opinion.

Plus, the scaling is terrible and no ASCII option. Good luck identifying things while playing handheld.

Just putting it out there.

I've not seem anyone mentioning it and how poorly it was done.

P.s. I've been away from the site for many years due to lack of ability to stay up to date with the current climate.

Plus, the whole "rogue-lite" situation.

I'm on win xp sp3 32 bit. (Sorry for the late reply.)

It does say 7/8.x/10 versions so maybe it's not even compatible with XP? Someone still using xp could confirm it. Is there a reason you are on XP?

I missed where it stated win7 as the lowest version.  Thanks for looking into it.

While I do legitimately prefer xp to newer versions of windows, the primary reason is simply financial. Just don't have the money to upgrade.

I was psyched to give it a play, buy I ended up getting the same missing kernal32 entry point error as I am with the latest tales of majeyal.  :(

What kind of system you have? It should be 32-bit version, so it should run on both. I have 64-bit Windows 10.

I'm on win xp sp3 32 bit. (Sorry for the late reply.)

Looks cool. But is there any way to make it play in full screen? It opens in a window which is too wide for my monitor.

Is there a win32 version for xp by chance? The main one seems incompatible. :(

looks pretty cool. Does it run on xp by chance?

Gas clouds suck.  >:(

Other than those annoying buggers, I was enjoying this one for a good bit tonight.

Classic Roguelikes / changing symbol color in nethack?

Is there a way to change the colors of specific character symbols in nethack without having to build and compile the source?

Thanks Krice.

I think that sound like a cool idea. Maybe, rather than a single day dedicated to it, spread it out to a few each day?

Hope I finally get to make it next year if it's still in the bay area. I missed this year again due to illness. :(
