Programming / Re: Realtime or semi-realtime turns
« on: November 02, 2011, 11:59:57 PM »
I'm biased, I like the  semi realtime/realtime, as you can see in my 7drl (tomb of rawdin) and non-7drl game, Cracks and Crevices. Both use the same mechanic. You get so many seconds per turn, or its implied you passed and everyone else gets a turn... makes for some interesting tactics imo.

if it can be done, people will do it. dont waste your time or energy on it. search rgrd, there are lots of threads on this topic. imo, there are some people who will always do it, and others that dont bother. its a waste of your time and energy

Programming / Re: Trouble installing ncurses in Ruby...
« on: December 24, 2010, 02:11:00 PM »
since its a windows install it needs pdcurses but wants ncurses so your SOL.

your ruby install is fine, but the gem thinks its being built on nix, and does not take into account that it has pdcurses on windows instead.

.net2.0.... Guess this is not the game Brian was working on in 1998 :)
In what regard? Beta testing? or was this a project of his about which I have been oblivious?

dont know what happened to brians old projects but .net20 was not around in 1998 so its not the same game is all I implied ;)

I run slickedit or netbeans (netbeans has a good c/c++ editor). eclipse does c/c++ too but I'm in the netbeans camp regarding those two. Mostly I just use Slickedit for all my editing. You can get ultraedit now if you were familiar with that on windows. or jEdit which imo kicks ass! Until I bought slickedit I was a certified jEdit user

um yeah, good luck with um selling it.

nice work! I played it till I got bored, very promising if you work on it. I found the dungeons too... tightly packed? need more corridors. better inventory management ;)

uh... can't you integrate the two? dont you want to 'finish' part one before going on to part two?
