I think so. It's part of the learning process.
Making games is especially important. Experiment with a new idea, if it doesn't really pan out, that's cool. Move on to the next idea.

Indeed, learning from other people's failures (and successes) is an excellent way to improve yourself with minimal pain and suffering.
