Thanks for playing my game Sun Crusher, Game Hunter. You had it figured out a bit quicker than I thought but you seemed to have fun.

I ended up taking most of the Roguelike elements out to cut it down for the 7DRL. So exploration, refueling, repair, picking up ammo and that sort of thing was all cut. So all you have left are randomized levels and permadeath. Ended up more of a puzzle than rogue-like.

Man, those reviewers sure were forgiving when it came to completeness and aesthetics. A lot of the games I've played so far were pretty close to the mark in other categories, but so very many didn't feel nearly as polished, both mechanically and as a matter of controls/UI. Frankly, these are the lowest priority on the list when it comes to 7DRLs (as what I'd both consider as a developer and expect as a gamer), so I wouldn't weigh them as much as the other categories, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't end up low anyway.

Incidentally, I wouldn't mind doing a more formal written-style review for any of the games from this year, on a per-request basis. Nothing with scores, mind you, but I'm pretty good about being detailed.

2013 7DRL Challenge blind-runs too!
I do roguelike LPs, usually blind. I'm always looking for criticism!

Congrats to the review team for undertaking this enormous task---maybe one of these years I'll magically become unbiased enough to pitch in.    :P

I have to say I'm quite surprised that The Challenge was rated 2.28. I thought that the botched job I did balancing this thing and the incomplete movement scheme would make the reviewers more critical of it. Quite pleasant to see that this was not the case.

Oh, and someone noticed the ranged combat animation. Yeeeeah!

EDIT: I'm contemplating putting a bit more work into it beyond patching. Might be worth it.

  Yeah I got 53rd!

Bam! How you like me now?!!  :-)

All reviews were fair except for the fun factor. You telling me it's not super duper fun to blow up a star? HA! Lack of depth I think hurt me in the fun department. No biggie. I'm very proud of Sun Crusher.

The problem was fixed yesterday. If anyone finds another error or inconsistency we are all ears.
