[Game Hunter]

About eight months ago I started a little video series about playing through DoomRL "special" levels (ie, the guaranteed ones). After that I started recording entire runs of the game, at which point my scope snowballed into roguelikes in general. I invite any and all members of the roguelike community to check out my channel and let me know how I'm doing:

The full list of roguelikes I've already played can be found at the side on the Featured Tab. I don't know if there's a limit to that sidebar, though, so I'll also keep that list here (MOVED TO ORIGINAL POST).

I'm also open to the possibility of livestreaming for a game, but I don't know where to start. If anyone has ideas on good streaming sites, what to play, how to play it, etc, reply and we'll try to work something out.

Well, you sound like one here, Krice. The videos seem very nice!

As for my games, Hydra Slayer already has some videos (but maybe the graphical version could be tried), Hyperbolic Rogue already has some and is planned to have a new version, so no use to show it for now, and Vapors of Insanity has none and probably would benefit, but probably it's better to wait for a new version, as the current one has some bugs and its interface improvements are incomplete.

  To be honest most Eastern Europeans come off as dicks to me. I'm not the only one that feels that way. I have to remind myself that they aren't really dicks. It's just a cultural thing that I'm responding to on a reflex level.

  Krice you are Finnish right? To the ears of people in my part of the world (Eastern Oregon, USA) Finns and the rest of the Scandinavians come off as incredibly warm and nice. Though I'm sure they have just as high an instance of being assholes as any other place in the world.

EDIT: Yeah. He's an American or at least speaks with the standard American urban West Coast accent. Not to say that's where he's from. But that accent has become the standard in the US. Like it's the one you'll hear on news shows and what not from LA to New York. Any other accent will have you labeled as some sort of ethnicity and people will quiz you about it. I get it all the time as I have a rural accent. People think I sound unintelligent and right wing but capable and trustworthy. It's been a real issue in my legal career. I end up having to use ridiculously large words in order to viewed as intelligent. Like a gospel preacher using words like loquacious and what not. Maybe you'll hear me someday on Roguelike Radio.

I've been told my inflection is pretty mute. I come from Midwest suburbia (so yeah, United States) and the only time I've been corrected regarding pronunciation is the difference between words like "marry" and "merry". TBH I wouldn't be surprised if my accent comes across as a little headstrong: I try to speak with some degree of confidence and matter-of-factness, but only because I'd otherwise be mumbling the whole time (far earlier videos are evidence of this).

Started up CastlevaniaRL: Serenade of Chaos today. Right now I don't really have time to double up on playthroughs, but if anyone has suggestions for quickies that would only take a video or two to explore sufficiently, those are far more likely to be recorded. Got a huge backlog already.

Also, if you guys have any advice on, say, introducing the games, or talking about their mechanics, or developer quips, I'd like to try mixing in as much of that as possible. Most of the talking I do involves either direct words on the screen or explaining what I'm doing as I do it, but I bet a more interesting approach is to compare and contrast from other roguelikes, or give my opinions on how certain things are handled. If it's a good thing then lemme know!

the only funny things I noticed is that you say "strenth" instead of as I would "straingth".

I rather Enjoy Game Hunter's Lets Play's. I can hardly stand listening to most. Lots of other people tend to be over-dramatic when reading in game text or making their comments. Others that I've seen tend to just complain about the game they're playing and swear way too much.

I find Game Hunter's Lets Play's genuinely interesting and enjoyable.

Also, he sounds like a regular average guy without being too over the top or coming off as overly "nerdy" as some might assume the majority of the community to be.

Swedes are warm, but not finns or norwegians. Sweden is an interesting country also, because it almost never experienced any difficult wars (like world wars) so it was a peaceful land, something like elves always have in fantasy. We have had more difficulties in history, because we were slaves first to kingdom of Sweden and then the russian empire. Finland was extremely poor and people here fought against their masters and also the harsh, cold environment. You don't survive from that if you are nice. That's why we have lots of tough motherfucking asshole genes.
