Download link in the head post. For couple minutes i will type a short manual for game.

Manual.

In EliteRL you are control a space ship and can flight and fight.

Form start menu can be started two different games -  classic Elite universe and random generated.

You start on space station, orbiting planet.

[3] - Equipment dock.  Strategic tip - sold pulse laser, one missile and buy fuel scoop. Now, you can collect containers from destroyed ships and refueling from star's corona.
Scroll up and down for chose a goods/equipment.
left - sale, right - buy.

[4] Short range star map.
wasd or arrows for scroll.
hold shift for fast scroll
hold ctrl for accurate scroll
aim cursor to star and press Space to lock target star for hyper drive.
White stars in range. Gray stars - out of space. Red circle - reachable space with full tank. Blue - with current amount of fuel.
On right side - star system info.
High Techlevel - more good equipment.
Anarchy, Feudal and Communist system is dangerous.

[5] Long range star map. Scrolling control is same.

[2] return to SS screen.

[1] - undock station

Mouse - heading.
LMB - laser. Laser shots heats system. Overheated laser cool down slowly (cursor turning to red)
RMB - Missile. For launch missile lock it first. Press Q, and cursor change to stylized X and aim to other ship. Locked target has brown background color.

w - throttle. Hold to move, use mouse to heading. (two versions, with rotating environment and smooth throttle was putted in garbage, because was unplayable)

Space Station has two zones - red and green. Red zone - restricted, do not get close. Green zone - docking port.

Yellow ships - neutrals. Red - enemy. You attack converts neutral to enemy.

H - HyperJump. Consumes fuel. Ship jump to another star system.

G -Galactic Hyper Jump. Consumes self. Ship jump to another galaxy.

E - ECM - electronic counter measures. Destroying missiles.

All star systems contain star, planet and space station.
Equipment for sale depends of star system techlevel.
ECM - TL2+
PulseLaser - TL3+
BeamLaser - TL4+
MilitaryLaser - TL10+
Galactic HD - TL10+
(Escape Pod feature-cuted)

Fuel and missiles available always.
Market prices and goods quantity generates based on TL, government type and economic type.

Today not many visual works, but more "paper works" for game mechanics and ships stats.

Attempt to get close from red sector will activate space station defense.
Sector can has different radius and size (depends of equipment/stats/skills/perks/etc). Green sector always directed backward.

Day 4 thinking's.

Basic scheme of character progress in roguelike:
1.   Do something for
2.   Gain experience points (Exp), then
3.   Spend Exp to improve character’s stats/skills/perks/etc
4.   GoTo 1
5.   …
6.   PROFIT!
Exp value easily balanced for combat actions. For non-combat actions, determine Exp value is little bit complicate.

In EliteRL player have two main activities: Fight and Trade. And I think, I know, what and how using for measuring of experience. Money
Money = Experience points
Successful trade operation gives you money.
Successful combat operation gives you bounty (Money) and/or loot -> money.
Unsuccessful actions take away you money.
Money is a measure of character (player) success.
Money can be spending for buy weapon, goods (for sell late and increase money) or skills.

Balancing.
Test variant 1.
Player spends all time for trade and accumulate huge amount of money/Exp
a) Skills/Stats/Traits limited by combat rating and can’t be increasing unlimited.
b) Huge cash in ship’s safe will attract swarm of low-caliber outlaws.

Test variant 2.
Player spends all time for combat and fast grows in combat rating.
a) High combat rating push player to face high danger enemy. Without adequate skills/equipment player will have lot of troubles in combat.

Looks fine for me.



Add:
After another meditation, after idea about experience in EliteRL, I found my previous plans about character’s class incurious. “Trader”, ”Pirate”, “Adventurer” - is too primitive.
At start, player wills choice a ship. And the ship is a class of character. Depends of type, ship has different cargo hold, weapons class, speed, turn rate, etc. And ship’s type impacts a player behavior in game. So, ship’s stats/”skills” can be improved for money, without discordance.

Probably, ship can be changed during play. For example, if ship has been destroyed and character escapes in escape pod, after docking, player can choose new ship type.

Looks very interesting. Although I'm not a huge fan of directly copying another game's world, it's nice to see scifi games around here.

Navigation include ruler on top, and around radar mapper.
Ruler display projection of "what I can see from @ to mouse pointer"
· = 5° | ¤ = Star
= 45° | = Planet
+ = 90° | = Station

Radar mapper displays direction to surrounding objects.



Star Corona, exosphere and photosphere with granules (divine Perlin Noise)



Will be used for fuel scooping.
