Elona shooter
« on: October 29, 2009, 04:47:59 AM »
The creator of Elona has released a flash game set in what appears to be the same setting.  It's one of those "defend your castle" style defensive shooters, but the game has a lot in common with its predecessor, with level up and skill systems, wages, taxes, and all of that.

To anyone interested, the game can be found here.

I have no idea why, but I'm finding this game to be really addictive.  I think noa's crazy economic ideas work much better in a small scale like this game than in Elona where the myriad taxes and fees for every little thing become such a hassle.

The medal system is an interesting way of having persistency over multiple game sessions.

You need to invest in chickens hard and early if you want to survive financially.

It seems to me like the best classes are the Rogue for extra money, or the Noble for level ups and general combat ability, but I keep hitting a brick wall around level 35 or so.  Does anyone have good strategies for getting further?

It seems to me like shotguns are the worst weapon types, but rifles, small guns, and big guns are all useful in their own situations.  I think big guns might have the strongest potential overall.

I think the game will be updated for awhile yet to fine tune balance and such seeing as how there's already been an update or so since it launched from what I remember seeing elsewhere.   Should be pretty nifty once all is intuitive and working proper.

I have yet to try it, but I have it favorited on Kong.  Glad to see he uploaded it there.  I like Kong.  :)

I actually forgot he was making this until you posted this Curseman.  Thanks.

Okay, I have this game figured out.  The solution to every possible economic problem is to buy a million chickens.  The solution to every possible military problem is a laser pistol with as many ammo and/or reloading mods as possible.

Also: buy the party house once things start getting really tough and it becomes semi affordable.  Its price seems like a rip off for 10% more damage (it is), but  keep upgrading it anyway.  +110% damage for your whole team makes the later missions a lot easier.
