I (that is Assen “rexorcorum” Kanev, the artist/art director of Tales of Maj’Eyal (
https://te4.org)) am hosting the (European) International Roguelike Development Conference 2016! If you plan to attend, please fill in this
Google Form (https://goo.gl/forms/AtEgR4ePOsmwhL0O2). The detailed information on the event can be found at the RogueBasin IRDC page (
http://www.roguebasin.com/index.php?title=IRDC_2016-Europe), which is being constantly filled in and updated. Everyone is welcome!
The EventThe EU-IRDC is an opportunity for roguelike developers and enthusiasts from the continent and around the world to get together and share their work with each other. It is held in an unconference format, with informal presentations made by most attendees. Attendance is free and open to all, whether developer, fan, enthusiast, academic, journalist, or wandering vagrant (even strange purple aliens
). It is being hosted at Init Lab, the hackerspace in Sofia, Bulgaria.
This year we'll try to repeat last year's event structure, thus having Saturday as the "core" day of the conference, where everyone from the established developers to enthusiast, fans and neophytes is invited to come, give and listen to presentations and demos, to socialize and generally having a good time. On the Sunday morning, the session will be more public, and can include a variety of activities (see in the Form for our ideas thus far). Everyone who will be in Sofia on Friday evening (the 25th) is invited to the local monthly indie game dev meeting SYSF (which stands for ‘Show Your S**t Friday’
).
The Venueinit Lab (
http://wiki.initlab.org/index.php/InitLabv3) is the hackerspace in Sofia. It is a meeting place for all tech-oriented people in a very broad scope - from programmers, system administrators, hardware engineers, support specialists, QAs, game developers and designers to marketing and advertising specialists, musicians and artists, the enthusiasts and the curious. The Lab is located in the centre of Sofia, very near to the Lions’ Bridge Metro station and the Central Railway Station.
The DatesThe conference will take place on the 26-27th November 2016.
