Quote
You light a candle...

"O my son, you know well the horrors that wait in the lair of Fulad-Zereh, of his terrible gaze that turns men and women to stone, of the hideous traps that lie in wait at every turn. Keep your sword close, and your heart pure. Reject the black magic that will tempt you, for if the devils below gain hold of your soul, then none shall save you or the prisoners that wait in the dark. Recite the prayer I taught you, for it will undo the demon's curse and strengthen your faith.

"Gather the Shamshir, for it is the only sword that shall pierce Fulad-Zereh; the Mirror Armor, for it is the only garment that can ward off his evil eye; the Cloak of Abraham, for it shall make fire as water to you; the Ring of Solomon, for it grants power over demons and shall be necessary to bring forth Fulad-Zereh from his lair.

"Go now, and do not fail us. Our prayers are with you."

A diabolical dungeon crawler

Inspired by Telengard and other dungeon crawlers of old, Demon's Sword will challenge your patience and test your luck. The dungeon of Fulad-Zereh is procedurally generated with each new game and filled with horrors eager to decorate the walls with your innards. But do not despair! You shall gather strength as you navigate the dismal maze in search of artifacts and treasure. If you choose, you may make use of powerful magic scrolls that you find, at the cost of Purity. Lose too much Purity and...well, we'll let you figure that out on your own.

Oh, and by the way...dead is dead. There are no second chances. Welcome to Hell.

Wow. I love this.

I've always liked Telengard and DND which it was derived from (by the same author as well), and this is a pretty fun arcade style dungeon crawler in the vein of Telengard.

It keeps the simplistic charm of the original with just enough added features and depth to make it seem like a spiritual sequel and it plays great. It even keeps a similar interface to the original but also makes it so a the enter key can be used as a broad "interact" button which makes it play much smoother. Which is especially helpful with the real time reaction input that the original and this game utilize. I do wish that the main menu could be navigated using the cursor keys and Enter though.

The graphics are very nice with a combination of oryx roguelike tiles and a status area and border reminiscent of the old ad&d gold box games.

This could use some better documentation though. There are a few items which are not explained at all what they do, like the candles.

I think the traps need to be tuned up a bit. They are invisible and can deal massive random amounts of damage.

I booted this up intending to just check it out for a minute and next thing you know I was playing for over an hour.

I'm finding it rather great so far.

(If the dev is reading, the sound seems to distort for some reason after I switched to fullscreen. Winxp.)

When I saw the GoldBox font my heart jumped. Definitely my favourite cRPG series ever.

Glad to hear game`s also good, will check it out later.

The sidebar! I have some dim memories of trying to get into Pool of Radiance once as a kid. I found CRPG Addict recently and could really appreciate the beauty of it. That font though... awesome! Going to try this out!

This one would be great as an android game. Nice for short coffee break sized play sessions.

looking on the dev's website, I wonder what happened to these tiles that were originally being used?  They look pretty cool. Almost reminds me of zx spectrum.
