Incursion (open source) 0.6.9Y5
« on: April 09, 2014, 08:00:29 PM »
An updated download is available on bitbucket.

This fixes a few residual keyboard problems, which in some circumstances might make the game unplayable.

Changes:
  • Issue 41: Fix bug where numpad '.' key does not do rest action like normal '.' key.  This is because numpad is only supported when numlock is turned off, due to how we receive notification about key events from SDL2 via libtcod.
  • Issue 42: Fix bug where space key sends two key presses for each actual press.  This was caused by the non-US keyboard fix.

Can you please give more information?  A list of steps describing what you do, what happens on screen.  Write it out like someone who doesn't play the game needs to be able to picture what's going on.

No-one else is reporting this problem.

My player enters a room. Then the pop up window that shows the room descriptions pops up, but immediately vanish. I am only pressing the movement key once as far as I can tell. I thought maybe I was pressing it too fast after entering, but that does not seem to be the case.

What key are you pressing? Please be specific.

I'm pressing a direction key. Numpad. I can't recall exactly which direction I was moving each time.

Playing on a laptop using an external usb keyboard.

The short answer is that you cannot use numpad, unless you have numlock turned off.

SDL2 has introduced a new revolution in key press events, and it means that this is the best I can do.  But it's better..  trust me o_O

Ok. Works fine now when I took numlock off. Thank you.

Also, is there any way to choose your character's name? It always seems to just assign me one at random. It's been a while since I played Incursion.

Legend - if you want to be able to name your character, you could try Veins of the Earth :) Incursion has no such option.

Was Incursion always that way without being able to name your character? I don't recall.

Anyways, I hope it eventually is made possible.  While it may be fairly trivial and doesn't affect gameplay, it's still a nice thing to have and a fairly standard feature.

I have tried veins. I didn't like it much unfortunately.
