Nifty article on Rogue
« on: May 06, 2009, 02:05:46 AM »
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/4013/the_history_of_rogue_have__you_.php

Worth I read I suspect.

Edit:  Oddest part?  S.C.O.U.R.G.E. gets name dropped and a footnote in the article yet Crawl Stone Soup is nowhere to be found.  Mildly surprised POWDER isn't in there as well to a lesser degree.

I think there is a bit of a bias towards graphic games (makes better magazine illustrations for a start ;-).  I tried S.C.O.U.R.G.E. for a while but a number of things about it put me off.

well I know the authors, and its a chapter that didnt make the book. It was not designed to name drop every roguelike, if you read the other online chapters published by gamasutra you will get a feel for what they were doing (the book is also really awesome by the way)
