Mines of Morgoth v1.0 is out
« on: May 01, 2009, 08:52:28 PM »
At last I have decided to stop adding stuff to my game and it is now
available at www.minesofmorgoth.com.

It has taken seven years to get it to this stage and I hope some of you
can enjoy it even if it is far from perfect.

I hope to keep adding on to it in the future so that it has the 40 level depth I wanted to put in from the start.

Woo hoo!  My constant refreshing only TODAY fails me.  Looking forward to digging in somehow or another in the near future.  Congrats on this long wrought achievement!   8)

Though it is still showing .92 demo and the last March update...

Hmm...

Checking it now, I see the v1.0 demo on there, but the News item is still the March 23 .90 update.  Can't seem to find a link aiming towards a full version and/or purchasing options.

AH, I think I see what the issue is.  With my frequent checking with Firefox it is as I state above, but when I just now tried to load the site with barely used InternetExplorer 9 is shows the latest news item as well as the purchase section.

Heheh, and just now after refreshing the website in Firefox once the purchase section showed up while the news remained the same, and then after refreshing once more the May 1 news item showed up too.

Good old internet   :D

Be sure and add yourself to Roguebasin at some point so you can be counted alongside the rest in the spiffy new interface.

Also, just to be on the safe side if I understand the order form correctly, I CAN just pay with a credit card as usual without needing to have any kinda paypal account right?  It is just the usual online processing?

Similarly, how much does 19Euro translate into USD?  If you can, you might want to edit the section to have that clearly seen on there as well.

How will future updates work for people that elect to purchase the full version?

One other thing I forgot to ask some months back:  Where'd the written rationale for the game and your aims for it disappear to that used to be on the site?  It'd probably be helpful to have something like to add a personal touch to the explanations and such as to why this was THE project for the last several years for you.

Tried to start up the demo...yet something seems to not be working right.  I can name a character and roll stats, but after I click start it seems to crash back to desktop....but if I ctrl+alt+del it is still there in applications as "running", but even after waiting quite awhile nothing.  On XP.

19 euros for a roguelike game? This is going to be a commercial success. Well, can't blame if you want money. After all, roguelike development is hard. We should get paid.

To be fair, Scallywag costs more(though only a few bucks so).  As do any Nintendo DS and Wii stuff.

My specs are:

Dell Dimension 4600
Intel Pentium 4 2.6
2 GIGS RAM
Direct X 9.0c
GeForce FX 5200 128 MB
Win XP Pro SP 2

A junk PC from 2003/04 by today's standards overall that leave me out of most modern gaming, but it should surely be enough.

It is more than enough indeed. I managed to get it to run on an old Vaio sub-notebook from 2000 with a Crusoe 300 Mhz processor !
Slow but just about playable. : )

This problem is due to VB/DirectX weirdness as I am mixing windows forms
with DirectDraw surfaces... not a good idea I know now but it was worth
a try. My next game will definitely be all DirectX if only to avoid this kind
of crap. Of course I have no problems on both of my machines here with
the current version.
