First I thought you were that mushroom guy, he is not nice. Let me just say that it's not my personal preference, because most if not all 7DRLs in actual are not roguelikes. And I do care about that as a player and a developer.
Yes, those games are not like rogue. Much like many of the "roguelikes" seen on popular gaming sites. BUT the war is lost, the term roguelike is effectively inclusive of anything that anyone wants to claim is roguelike. No matter how much you care about it, there is nothing you can do about it.
You can't get this forum to change it's rules to only allow games that are what are now named, traditional roguelikes. Try it. I guarantee it won't work. And if you can't get it to happen here, one of the long term bastions of traditional roguelikes, then the chances of it happening in wider circles is improbable.
Even if you could get this forum to be only about traditional roguelikes, it'd be a waste of time. It depends on who you talk to what a traditional roguelike is. Can it be non-turn based? Does it have to be ASCII? With just those two things, there's a number of anti-roguelite people who are bickering.
I'm not interested in futile battles. Good luck! But you'll probably be bemoaning the problem by yourself if you just complain about this change with no practical way to make a difference that has any reasonable level of support.
