I'm swedish
« on: March 03, 2011, 02:07:06 PM »
I just realized that because I have a swedish personnummer then I have to be a citizen of Sweden. Right? They can't take it away from me, even if I don't live in Sweden now. Right?

I don't think a personnumber automatically makes you a citizen. I lived and studied in Sweden for a short while, and I got a P.Nr. then, but I can tell you I'm not a legal citizen of Sweden. You have to perform certain bureaucratic rituals to become one, and only after living there for a certain amount of years (five, I think). But I'm sure a P.Nr. will allow you to bluff your way in some situations :P

If you get attacked by nazi zombies because you took their gold during your ski trip, you're not Swedish - you're Norwegian. Be careful; it's a common mistake.
