Crossfire v1.50.0 released

Quote
Crossfire is an open source, cooperative multiplayer graphical RPG and adventure game. Since its initial release, Crossfire has grown to encompass over 150 monsters, about 3000 maps to explore, an elaborate magic system, 13 races, 15 character classes, a system of skills, and many artifacts and treasures. Crossfire is based in a medieval fantasy world and is similar to other games of this genre.

This release is based on the trunk
versions, discontinuing support for the 1.x branch.  Given the long time
since the last release, there are lots of changes.  Number is to note
that it is a more than just an incremental release from 1.11, but is not
yet 2.0

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lots of bug fixes, but there are not real major changes.  But general
changes:
- New maps
- New graphics
- Many adjustments in play balance
- Change in combat speed
- New account based login mechanism
- Use of glade layout files in client, allow end users to choose from
   different layouts
- Ability to control which window messages are routed to in the client
- Removal of X11 and gtk v1 clients.

The short version at least.....this one always sneaks up on me.  Surely something rather impressive and robust still chugging on along.   8)

It's cool to see this still developing. If my memory doesn't play tricks on me, I first ran into this 1996 or 1997, and to see it still being developed is amazing.

Yep, it'll be odd if it winds up "outlasting" the "semi-fork" that is Deliantra.   :P

If anything, this kind of time for "Big Idea" games should be far more common considering it is not unusual for other intellectual/artistic pursuits to take several years, if not decades, depending.
