Controller-friendly roguelikes question
« on: November 14, 2024, 04:28:22 AM »
Hey all,

I love traditional roguelikes, but lately I can't find much time to play on my computer with m+kb and I typically prefer playing roguelikes with my numpad. I find myself playing a lot more on the Steam Deck lately, so I have two questions:

What are your recommendations for controller-friendly roguelikes?

Is there a name or a term for those roguelikes where you can choose the direction using the stick and then "execute" the movement with a key, like Caves of Qud does?

For reference, I play Caves of Qud on the deck and it's great. Also KeeperRL (the single minion control works like that too), Zorbus (not great but doable), Golden Krone Hotel (really good), ToME (controls are tricky), ADOM and UADOM (good but not great on deck controls), Tangledeep (controls also improvable), etc.

Also some not traditional RLs, or roguelites like Noita (sidescrollers are great on the deck), Barony (1st person works good too), Unexplored 2 (great)...

Any suggestions are welcome!
