Roguelike Mega Collection Torrent Has 700+ Free Games

Free games are great and roguelikes are the best of all games, so a torrent containing more than 700 of the blighters is a lovely thing to discover on a Thursday morning. The collection is the work of ‘foamed’, a Reddit moderator and roguelike curator, and it’s more than a big pile o’ fun. As well as containing some of the greatest games ever made, this is an important archive – there are variants and minor games included that are no longer available elsewhere, and as long as there are seeders, any future disappearances will be protected until our computers turn to dust.

The person doing this is doing the good work.

Although, is anything really free?  If I put half an hour into getting Binky's WooWoo RL working, and then half an hour into trying it, and decide it has no value or enjoyment to me, I've paid with an hour of my time and there are no refunds!

But there's tremendous value to making sure that some of these aren't lost.  I know of two roguelikes for which the downloads are no longer available.  I should look up their names and see if they're in there.

Wow, that's impressive. I'm a bit offended that Sqiurm isn't on the list, though And I wonder if anyone will put together something similar for other OSes.

Meh. Time != money, methinks. Wouldn't this logic render life itself utterly futile, unless one is hoping for some sort of metaphysical salvation? And if life is really wasted, what with no refunds and all. what better way to waste it than playing Roguelikes?

I know of two roguelikes for which the downloads are no longer available.  I should look up their names and see if they're in there.

I think there are web pages with "lost" and rare roguelikes. Even them sound more reliable source than a torrent (=viruses).
