What version of libtcod to use?
« on: February 10, 2015, 08:36:27 PM »
This is a crosspost from the libtcod forums, but looking at the activity there, it looks rather dead.

The orignal post: http://roguecentral.org/doryen/forum/index.php?topic=1663.0

The text from the original post:

I'm thinking of using libtcod for a student project later this semester, but I'm uncertain what version of the library to use.

The course requirements are:
  • C++ (11/14)
  • GNU/Linux 64-bit

I see the latest stable version, 1.5.1, is released in 2012. There's a 1.5.2 nightly, but still no release? I see the file sizes are different, so obviously some patches has been applied, but no release for two+ years?

And then there's the 1.6.0 nightly..

Would the safest bet be 1.5.1 or 1.5.2 nightly? Or even 1.6 nightly?

I've been using happily 1.5.1 with Python. I tried 1.5.2 and saw nothing wrong with it but couldn't bother modifying my code to fit 1.5.2.
