Does anyone have the old Turbo Pascal game called "Deep"? It was made by Oliver Mecking. The latest version is 2.21.  Any help is appreciate :).

I am not sure if this is the right place to post my question. Does anyone ever successful build Angband with Codeblocks 16.0 and / or Visual Studio 2016? I want to learn how to build this game myself, rather having someone build it and post it on internet.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, which variants of Angband is the most popular of all?

I am fascinated with the world building procedures that the Dwarf Fortress and Ultima Raito Desgum have. Is there any other games similar to these games that are open source for research purpose? If there a demo program (open source as well) that I can review the codes for better understanding, I would appreciate it.

P.S. I just remember that Minecraft have world building abilities too.

Challenges / What is 10Bar Roguelike and Random Chance running?
« on: July 13, 2013, 06:51:22 PM »
In the front page of the RogueTemple on 7DRL Evaluation Results, Darren Grey posted

"No one was able to get 10bar Roguelike or Random Chance running :(" What does he mean by the 10bar Roguelike? What is Random Chance mean? I am curious about it. Is there any game example of this so I can understand better.

Thank you for replying back to increase my I.Q. by one points!

Hello RPG programmers,

I found a game called zomband at http://www.roguetemple.com/2007/05/10/zomband-and-no-this-is-not-an-angband-variant-p/

The only thing that caught my interesting is console like screen in the middle of the game screen. Does anyone know how to do that? It look like a challenge to code it.

Thank you for any replies,

Other Announcements / How did the hero get the character '@'?
« on: May 25, 2013, 08:46:06 PM »
I am curious about RPG history why the hero or the player tends to get this ascii character '@'? Why not this '☺'? What was the first RPG game to use it? It seems very common to use '@' in most of the text RPG games I have seen so far.

« on: April 15, 2013, 07:13:52 AM »
Hello RPG programmer,

I am a newbie when it come to programming a RPG game.  I am wondering what is the popular IDE and curses library to use to create RPG games? I have MSVS 2010, and Netbeans on my computer. Does any one ever use PDcurses or libtcod with MSVS 2010 and how to do it?  :o

Much appreciate for your time helping me,
