Incubator / I would appreciate feedback on RLDR
« on: January 29, 2017, 10:19:07 PM »
RLDR stands For Roguelegends: Dark Realms, it is a Dark Fantasy themed roguelike in which most things are procedurally generated, this includes monsters items AND of course your usual dungeons, each section is 4 levels deep and contains its own set of monsters and items that are unique to that playthrough, any feedback would be appreciated.

Combat is done in a deterministic boardgameish way with physical, poison, and fire damage with associated effects..

Download can always be found here for the most recent version:

Roguelegends: Dark Realms , is a dark fantasy, cosmic horror, ascii  roguelike with an eternal darkness style sanity system and unique win conditions for each class.

It takes place in an evocative, lore-filled dark fantasy world, taking inspiration from games such as Ultima Ratio Regum, Dwarf Fortress, Overlord, the tabletop game Silent Legions, and the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

The game uses a complex procedural generation system,
First it generates the monsters, gives them names, interesting features and so on,
It generates cannon fodder monsters, magic monster's, and dwarf fortress FB style monsters, Vermin, and many more.
Then it generates engravings, statues, and paintings based on all these creatures and the lore of the world and so on.
It results in a pretty rich feeling dungeon. Anyway, if you have a chance, do check it out. I've been developing it since 2014 so.

Design / My thoughts on deep mechanics.

I recently posted a blog there, that some people may be interested in discussing mechanics I prefer to put in my games. Enjoy :)

I am still new to writing, so I hope its not too horrible.

Early Dev / GenRogue-Currently In Development-
« on: December 02, 2014, 06:18:51 AM »
Hello Guys Untrustedlife here, I was the guy who made roguelegends which was never finished, (sorry to all who were interesed in that btw, I guess if you are still interested I can give you what i had when i stopped working on it) and March 19 1924 (A 7drl that you can download Here) (moved link to dropbox)

I have recently started working on a new project, for now, we will just call it "project spacecrawl" GenRogue (working title). with libtcod ,sdl, c++, and an as-of-yet unchosen audio library

7/26/2015
This summer I was mostly working on a 3d java based game engine known as PolyEngine (and no It isnt released yet), so I havent been working on this as much as I wish.

Roguelegends was noticed by the producers of Sancuary RPG, too bad it has been abandoned. THey now want a game made with our 3d engine :P.

The summer was busy, and of course im a college student, so I don't have much free time, but
The project HAS EVOLVED, now the concept is that I will randomly generate a world with random creatures, plants, potions, and possibly other things, magic, , and you can play in that world in successive games Of course its still a "dungeon" crawler, so it isnt dwarf fortress (or anywhere near that, though it might end up like that a little bit, but its more abut the dungeon crawling and exploring of the world)
