Thumbs up.
I am looking forward to this. I'm fan of trading and Elite so I hope that you will create a great roguelike recreation.

What?  The game is freely available for a wide range of platforms, desktop included.

http://www.dwellergame.com/p/download.html

See that:
 Mobile version (J2ME)
Dweller for Mobile can be installed from Handster or GetJar

You can also download it by pointing your handset's browser to the Dweller WML page at http://files.dwellergame.com/j2me/index.wml

You can only download old versions, new for J2ME are only downloadable directly from phone.

Too bad that they don't make the game downloadable in a normal way now. Not all of us have internet in the phone. Or dweller is not longer free?

Test: Pokémon

If you can type (or paste) it the forum software will handle it. Nowadays most things are Unicode enabled. That way I can carry my name with proper Polish letters in signature and have it display right.

I will try mine Slovak weird characters: áéíóúěľščťžýäôňľďĎŇŤČŠĽ, for example.
If it can handle ž, then it should be ok.

Hm, my girlfriend is trying to make exactly this.

I remember this, great fun for the days I've know nothing of roguelikes. Had only demo, but that was random enough.

I've introduced roguelikes to my girlfriend through brogue successfully. She plays it months now, trying to win. I've shown her also stone soup and te4, but brogue is best for her. Recommended.

I've only managed to beat doomRL at normal difficulty several times, on various versions and I've won at brogue once (I think it was v1.4)
I keep screenshots from it to bring up memories of the great happines of the win ;)
And maybe worth to mention that I get my dwarven fighter hands on Orb of Zot once in crawl. Died in the Zot in the run to stairs, sadly.

Unreal World has a crafting system which is interesting, as it strives for realism. You can make yourself weapons, cook various things and even make sauna! Lots of options there.

so... how is it? has anyone tried/bought it?

Yesterday I've bought this and I've been playing it awfuly lot (for me). It has nice presentation (if you enjoy also graphic roguelikes), humor, gameplay, ideas, but bad thing is that it features non-permadeath mode. But you can still play with permadeath, if you resist the temptation.

Traditional Roguelikes (Turn-based) / Triangle wizard under linux
« on: April 13, 2010, 08:53:45 PM »
I've been trying to run Triangle wizard under wine windows emulator. Game runs, but there is very long waiting time between levels, menu-game screen, etc. Otherwise it looks ok.

Does anyone here have any luck in running the game correctly under wine? I tried searching in the web but no luck.

Fenrir cancels browse forum: Interrupted by incorrect Dwarf-Fortress message syntax
Fenrir has become enraged!

Nah... I has been too excited to check if syntax is correct. I hope you don't throw tantrum now.

About interface. I haven't played it for very long time, but I remember that when exiting menu I should press escape button and that irritates me very very much. Also I can't unpause when inside menu. Is this bug, or feature? I am running linux so maybe wine is what I should blame.

Whoa! I did expect that it will be very soon, as everything has been green in development branch.
Going to play.

I've tried to play it, it looks great and atmospheric. But game always freezes in the second level or so. Maybe this is already fixed, because I tried it long ago. Another problem has been difficulty at even low levels and I absense of auto-run key. Some command to travel around the map in comfortable way would be nice too.

Good job!
If only I have been so far with my roguelike :) I am trying to make it with 15 steps too, but have big fear of generating the dungeon and especially implementing AI.
