Wograld a multi-player RPG with Roguelike Elements
« on: December 12, 2018, 06:07:27 AM »
First of all, I want to say that it isn't a hard core permadeath totally random game with ascii graphics,, so I guess if you are looking for that, you can skip this one.  If you however, do like games like the Diablo series, Torchlight, or Flare(alright, I'm not sure flare is that random) you will probably like this game, as its more of an action rpg with random roguelike dungeons. (and by random, I do really mean random, different walls, floors etc, and different classes, but again, its real time so it lacks the turn based of things like ToME.
That said, I have found that turn based doesn't always translate well to multiplayer, because then you are waiting around for people to take their turns and it gets boring and games take too long.
Its all open source, including graphics, so I suppose you could make a true roguelike with it if you want.  The only downside, is it hasn't really been tested much on windows with .exes and stuff, cause its early development and I just use linux anyway.

its probably best to get the latest version from git, although there is a release, and I'm planning to make another release for Christmas.
Here is a really awesome video of game play.  This isn't one of the random dungeons, but anyway, it gives you an idea what it looks like.

You did realize this is a forum for roguelike games? Imagine if everyone would post their non-related games here. RPGs are ok, but they belong elsewhere, like RPG Codex forums.

By the way, didn't find the source code from github by searching with the name of the project. Good job. How about a link if it has some different name.
