Day 2: The game can be won and lost. Levels get harder as the game progresses. At this point I just need to polish and package. Things like title screen, score keeping, and other niceties first. I've got work all week long, so I'm glad I've got the basic game done. :D

Evening 3: Thought of an explosive addition to the game this morning, implemented it when I got home. Started working on menu screens. Played through a few times and made some difficulty adjustments. It's nice actually having time to playtest and polish.

Evening 4: Made some graphics for the player (now you are a dragon), and the goal of your quest. More playtesting, debating if I should include selectable difficulty levels. Continued packaging work, game over screens and such. Made an intro screen.

Evening 5: Title screen completed. Added some onboarding hints. I might be overly concerned about making sure first time players know how to play, even though it's like the simplest roguelike conceived. You just move and bump. Anyways, 1st play-test builds sent out to game dev friends.

Evening 6: Music and sound effects! Talked the game over with my playtesters and adjusted difficulty a bit more. I'm pretty happy with the game as it is, so... I think minimum viable product achieved! Got all night Friday til 1:45 Saturday to put the finishing touches. Excitement! 8)

Rogue Kudzu is completed! Download

Evening 7: Final touches! Rewrote the music. Remade some sounds. Tuned the difficulty for the final time. Played it a bunch to make sure it's winnable. It's borderline too easy, the rng may sometimes screw you over though. Sorry  :P

Too easy, with the odd death-by-RNG? Sounds like perfect balancing for a 7DRL, if you ask me ;)

As always,

True, it might be a bit easy, won it without effort on my second try (on my first I tried to kill all the kudzu on the first floor. Didn't end well. Fun little game though. Maybe up the difficulty a little for more replayability? All in all it's nice enough looking, intuitive and at least somewhat fun, so, not bad at all :)

Pseudo-Fun update for any GameJolt users. I've uploaded a WebGL version to http://gamejolt.com/games/rogue-kudzu/134722

If you are logged in to GameJolt (and if their API is working, its currently not, grrrr) you should be able to gain some trophies. There are three hidden trophies as well, the name of the trophy should clue you in to what you need to do.

Oh, I'd forgotten about this one. It was one of the better 7DRLs this time round. Challenging for a small game. I should play it some more. Thanks for the reminder.  :)
