[7DRL 2018][Success] DeliveryRL
« on: March 13, 2018, 07:01:04 PM »

Introducing a successful 7DRL entry, DeliveryRL! This is pretty much my first game ever and my first Game Jam ever! I people enjoy it and offer some great feedback. See more at: https://keipra.itch.io/deliveryrl

The game is also open source. https://github.com/thomas-holmes/delivery-rl

This submission was built off of a husk of an experimental game/engine I built at the end of last year. I decided I want to make a game and participate in the 2018 7DRL. Having made that decision I set out to practice by making a game. I started building a game from scratch (using just SDL2). It took me about 2 months to get to something that vaguely looked like a roguelike but had no identity but wasn't fun or interesting. All of the systems were just basic proof of concept. It was essentially a very poor reusable roguelike engine at that point. In January I came up with the idea to make DeliveryRL and was planning to build it before this year's 7DRL. Instead I got a huge design block and did not work on it.

So I decided I was going to build DeliveryRL during 7DRL and it finally took shape! I'm super happy with how it came out and I hope other people enjoy it too. :)
