Rogue Identity [7DRL-2016]
« on: March 10, 2016, 05:20:55 PM »
Well then, hello. This is absolutely taking a punt; I managed to miss the fact that 7DRL was on until Tuesday evening, but have spent 1.5 days so far, with a little under 4 days left. Since the registration page requires social media or a forum post, here this is, and I shall try to keep it updated.

My entry is/will be a py 2.7 / libtcod affair, started off from a featureless 'kit' RL script that I made a year or two ago, loosely following the roguebasin tutorial series on Python / Libtcod.

I have a variety of unoriginal-ish ideas and mechanics to try out, and no idea if it'll turn out fun, but I'm posting something, to compel myself to follow through and do this.

I presume I need to have several posts in place before I can submit screenshots...? Will perhaps try to summarise some mechanics ideas in separate posts, if I get time, or maybe try directly on 7drl.org

Hope everyone else is better organised. At least whoever registered last before won't be last any more. : )

Calling this one as 'failed' for now. Having done Ludum Dares before, where '72 hours' meant 'time from start to deadline, including sleeping time', I hadn't really clocked that 7DRL appears to mean '24*7 hours programming as near as dammit, over the course of 9 days'. Having missed the start and begun on Wednesday, assuming I'd missed 2 days, at a stretch: actually that was having missed 4 days of possible chance to put in work hours. This thing is just way too undercooked for today's (Sunday) submission. It could still turn out OK with a few more real day's work put in; if I manage to finish it in that way I'll upload it somewhere.

Nope, the 168 hours (7 days) is time from start to deadline, including sleeping. There's just a couple of days of flexibility in when you start/end to adapt to peoples' individual schedules.
