A Wizard's Lizard (now at Immortal Edition! v2.5.0) $
« on: January 23, 2014, 01:31:35 PM »  $14.99 DRM free, Win/Mac/Linux

Conquer the forces of Death in A Wizard’s Lizard, an action RPG for Windows, Mac and Linux. Explore ever-changing dungeons, filled with valuable treasure and powerful items, while battling back the hordes of evil. Rescue townsfolk to improve your town and aid your next trek into the dungeon.

Fans of The Legend of Zelda, Gauntlet, and The Binding of Isaac will love the retro-inspired twin-stick action of A Wizard's Lizard.

When the wizard of Amberfall unlocks the magic of eternal life, Death comes to take him away. Now his faithful pet lizard must brave procedurally-generated dungeons to save him!

Master Life & Death: Death is only the beginning as you continue to unlock secrets in the realm of the dead. Find hidden items only accessible to those who have died and discover the power of resurrection. Tread carefully, the dead do not wish to be disturbed.

Rebuild the Town: Rescue townsfolk trapped throughout the dungeons for increasing reward. Discover lost blueprints which allow the town's blacksmith to craft new weapons and armor.

Restore the Museum: Search Death's domain for stolen artifacts and legendary weapons. Every item you find is returned to the museum for display. Can you recover all of the powerful weapons, legendary armor, and magical items?

Control your lizard using your favorite gamepad (including the Xbox 360 controller) for full 360 degree movement and attacking.

Seems promising---the devs were responsible for the Onslaught Arena game from back when Chrome's Web Store first became a thing.

It’s been over a week since we launched A Wizard’s Lizard, and it’s been going fairly well! Our Steam Greenlight campaign is currently ranked #80 out of all the games on Greenlight, and we’ve even seen a healthy dose of sales thanks to attention from popular streamers.

We’ve been hard at work zapping bugs and adding new features to keep up with player demand. The latest version has over 50 incremental changes, including:

Be Your Best (book)
Demon Spear
Demon Sword
Detox Potion
Elvish Tunic
Heat Axe
Magic Book
Mithril Mail
Self Improvement (book)
Spiked Lantern
Spiked armor (5 piece set)
Vampire Crown

“Otter trap”
Clearer/better stats in menu
Display total wins/deaths
Key pentacle health restoration amount off of player magic
Magic property
Pick a random character
Random Zombie Warlord room layouts
Redesign access to Den of Thieves

…and LOTS of bug fixes/general improvements. Have a request? Please let us know on the AWL forum. GAME ON!

Looks like they are off to an excellent start with their post-release ongoing support!   8)

Now on Steam and packing an Immortal Edition moniker after a ton of internal further development:   8)

You knew A Wizard’s Lizard was coming to Steam because it was greenlit back in February. However! Did you know that there have since been four additional months of hardcore development? New content, features, abilities… there’s so much stuff we decided to call this update…

A Wizard’s Lizard: Immortal Edition!

Seriously, look at all this great new stuff:

Meaner Bosses

The Zombie Warlord, Sewer Hag, Death, two crystal bosses and others have all seen improvements. Their behavior is more varied and less repetitive.

Puzzles and Mini-Games

Pressure plates, puzzle rooms, gravity fans, and bear traps now guarantee chaotic good times.

Quality-of-Life Settings

You spoke, we listened! Custom keyboard configuration, gamepad sensitivity, mouse support, volume sliders, and more will make your dungeon crawling life easier.

New Monsters

Giant Flaming Skulls, Green Slimes, exploding mushrooms, and [spoiler alert]!

Soul Blast Ability

The new Soul Blast ability fires soul energy from the player, damaging nearby monsters. Power it up with magic items!

Totems can be stuck in the ground, after which they'll blast fire, freeze monsters, poison baddies, and more!

Big Explosions

If you like blowing stuff up, we've got you covered. "Boom Barrel" rooms abound in A Wizard's Lizard: Immortal Edition!

That’s a lot of stuff! So even if you’ve been enjoying wizards and lizards for a few months now, you’re certain to have fun new adventures with this big update.

Since launching a couple weeks ago, we've been hard at work making A Wizard's Lizard better in many ways. We heard your feedback regarding totems and Soul Blast and those features have seen significant improvement. In addition, we've fixed many small issues with the game and added "quality of life" changes.

But, there's more coming! We've got new content in the pipeline and continue to improve game stability and performance.

Here are the major changes in this update:

-Buffed Soul Blast in various ways: Increased range, number of projectiles, reduced cooldown, reduced player stun duration
-Consolidated various totem stats into Totem Power, which affects all aspects of totems
-Buffs/tweaks to most totems, including more benefit per point of Totem Power
-Charms can now affect many other stats besides totems, such as max health, weapon damage, and speed
-Added a complete set of Dark Iron gear (used to be Lead) and removed speed penalty
-Increased the amount of damage gained from attack buff items such as Spiked gear
-Many other balance tweaks to various weapons and items
-Increased delay when a Mimic is activated until it becomes hazardous to the player
-Reduced pentacle charge time from 10s to 5s
-Greatly improved Gambling Shop, removed terrible rewards, increased gold payouts, way more item variety
-Improve town Marketplace layout, items are now sorted by slot (weapon, head, chest, etc)
-Moved extra boss loot (Health Potion and treasure) to the room containing the Gold Chest (fixes issues with Sewer Hag)
-Added option to disable screen shake (screen shake is enabled by default)
-Hostages can no longer be killed
-Added a regular shop to Sewer 1 to fix the Merchant count for Merchant Murderer achievement
-Removed Soul Orbs from shops
-Fixed dungeon layout bug in Cemetery 2 causing Slime Key room to be missing
-Fixed fullscreen settings bugs
-Fixed boomerang cooldown and collision bugs
-Fixed incorrect blueprint counts
-Fixed bug where player could have < 0 health
-Fixed flickering/corrupted text rendering
-Fixed issues with the Ice Cube: Removed immunity to non-fire damage from Ice Cube and Ice Monsters, expanded room size
-Fixed a bug which caused key bindings to reset each restart
-Fixed a bug with the wizard's equipment buffs stacking causing very low cooldown and high projectile count
-And a bunch of other small fixes/tweaks!

This update brings some cool new changes to A Wizard's Lizard! Most notably, we've improved the dungeon layouts in terms of the paths through each level and special room placement.

Additionally, this update includes a few bug fixes, including some potential fixes for Mac stability! If you have any feedback on Mac performance, please let us know.

Don't forget, we're Kickstarting a sequel to A Wizard's Lizard! Please help us spread the word!

Full 2.5.0 Patch Notes:
AWL2 Kickstarter CTA on Title screen
Locked chests and doors now describe the key required when interacting
Improved dungeon layouts: More interesting room connections, and later floors are smaller, in general
Certain special rooms are now zone wide. For example, the blueprint vendor in the Cemetery can appear on any floor
New room types which may contain rewards or danger!
Pentacles appear on every floor
Shops are now randomized such that each shop has a chance to sell either items or health, or offer gambling
Gambling shops are now staffed by killable merchants
The Feather of Flying can now be found in chests and shops
Removed the Feather of Flying from Luna's unlock quest
The "merchant" in Amberfall now sells one of many different items, cheap!
Improved AI for Hive Totem bees and Soul Call dragon familiar (Monsters are prioritized over barrels and immune targets are ignored)
Buffed Soul Call dragon familiar's damage output
Allow gamepad analog input to scroll achievements list
Slightly reduced drop rate of fruit in the Cemetery
Updated frameworks for performance/stability

2.4.0 (STABLE)

A whole bunch of new achievements! (Previously unlocked characters will award achievements retroactively)
    Revamp achievements UI
Arrow Traps now emit light and are easier to spot in dark rooms
Reduced price of Killer Bees weapon
    Fix Merchant Murderer achievement
Pause the game simulation while a text dialog is displayed

Fix Mausoleum challenge which was broken due to explosion changes in 2.3.1

    New Challenge: Genowlcide
Improve explosion hitboxes and reduce explosion damage over time
    Fix gamepad detection
Fix stat calculations from items when transitioning from alive<->dead
Fix item counts for non-stackable items when transitioning from alive<->dead
Fix touch events overriding mouse events on hybrid tablets
Fix bug with Soul Rush ending immediately when used next to a destructible solid e.g. barrels

A couple of things to note:

If you encounter a "Disk read error" when downloading the patch for Mac, please uninstall the game by right clicking on the game in your library and selecting "Delete local content". Then, reinstall the game.

Unfortunately, we're experiencing some issues with the Steam overlay on Linux. For this reason, the Linux version of AWL is still at 2.4.0. We're working to get this resolved and get 2.5.0 to Linux ASAP. The good news is that we're also making progress on other Linux issues as well.
