The Sunken Dwellers of Gorgoth - Dungeon Crawl
« on: February 10, 2014, 10:05:25 AM »
Hi all,

I've been working on this little game for the past few weeks. It is a browser based roguelike/dungeon crawl.  I'm after some thoughts and feedback from people so thought I'd post it here...

Pretty nice so far.  I was mildly surprised when it turned out to be realtime, but I think it works quite well - the pace is slow enough that it still retains the tactical 'feel' of a more traditional turn-based roguelike.  The main thing that needs improvement at the moment is the graphics, I think.  Individually, they're nice enough but the mix of resolutions makes it look a bit scrappy and there are slight gaps between the tiles.

Hi all,

I'm wondering what other gameplay features to add to this game before I start polishing the graphics and sound etc.

Currently it has:

8 Different characters - different strengths, abilities and weaknesses

Online scoring - keeps track of various values online and displays them to the player.

Replay of previous games (all users) - at the character selection screen after waiting a replay of a random session will play.

50+ different spells

Buying and selling of equipment.

Hundreds of items.

Enchantment of items - player can mix gems with items to change the stats of the items, and also bind spells into items so that weapons can cast those spells as if they were cast by a magic user.

Lighting - changes as torch burns down, or can buy a lantern and there is full lighting forever.

Outdoor environment with traders and followers.

Followers who will fight alongside you.

Over 100 different monsters.

Interactive items within the dungeon - the usual chests etc but also fountains, cauldrons to drop stuff in, doors locked/unlocked, magic portals, statues that give information about the dungeon,

Secret passages and secret rooms in the dungeon...

Inventory which degrades with usage (ie weapons get worn out eventually....)

....

what other gameplay features would be worth adding in your opinion?
