« on: February 11, 2013, 08:31:40 AM »
Underhall 2.0 has been delayed due to a crash bug of unknown origin. Sorry.

Congrats, time to update the main page though as it still looks to be the old version in terms of the info and such at v1.2!   8)

In line with that, is this actually commercial somehow?  Price/model?

Yeah, I still need to update the web page, and the rogue basin page, and announce it on the newsgroup. It's a shareware game, the town and first level of the dungeon are available, full version costs $5. There is no real DRM, it's just about as basic as can be to make it easy on registered users. You just plug in the registration code on the title screen and it unlocks the full game instantly. You can reuse your registration code whenever you reinstall, it's that simple.

Edit; There, I just updated the webpage and the roguebasin entry.

Cool, how are you handling Payments and whatnot?  Didn't notice a Buy button on the main page and whatnot.

Have there been any other changes of note since last time as far as the game goes other than seemingly more of pretty much everything in terms of levels, monsters, items, spells?

There've been really too many major changes to list, that's why I haven't listed a more complete list. In many ways, it's a completely seperate game than the 7DRL. There are standard armor and weapon slots now, different classes and skills, different weapon and armor types, ranged weapons, different categories of spells, pets for necromancers, a fully featured town, saving and loading, chests that you can put stuff in, cursed weapons, rings, scrolls, dungeon "traps" like wells, unique special abilities for every class, a host of unique dungeon levels. It's really a much more fully featured roguelike now. Soon, I'll put up a youtube video that shows it off.

The payment is handled through BMT Micro, which is a pretty common payment handling system for shareware. You order from them, and they give you the registration code. In game, it links you to the order form from the main menu, and also when you encounter stairs leading deeper than the first level.

I've received one crash report, can anyone download and verify that it works? I tested the beta version and it worked fine on several computers, but this is a more recent version that hasn't been as thoroughly tested.

Very impressive fleshing out then it seems beyond more of what was once there---is there still yet more on your list of goals for down the line?

Good call on BMT, they do good work.  Still, I'd think it would be a good idea to get the BMT link on the game's page itself just to make it totally straightforward for people that stumble across it.

Also: I couldn't get the game to boot at all on clicking the application all it seemingly did was generate the stderr and stdout files in the folder and that was it...same for admin running----I'm on Win 7 64.

That's what I was afraid of. I have no idea what's going wrong. This is disappointing. I hope some people got it to work. I would hate to think that all those people downloaded it for nothing. The worst part is that I'm not sure how to fix it. I don't even know what's going wrong.

I'm even running it on Window 7 64 bit. Hmm.

Nevermind, please hold.

Until I can sort this out, I've taken the downloads offline. I'll update as soon as I can fix it. Sorry to anyone who downloaded it and couldn't get it to work.

Well hey, all good things in time and better to get this sorted out sooner than later when perhaps the game might wind up with more of a spotlight on it via the likes of RockPaperShotgun or any number of other especially lively hubs.   :)
