Berserker Quest 6: The curse of the onyx medallion is a punishingly difficult and somewhat light-hearted co-op/singleplayer dungeon crawler. Berserker Quest is powered by the Darkplaces engine and coded by indie developer Armitage. The game is currently in active development. Grab the latest version from the downloads page!

The game combines elements from rogue-like games with a first person combat system similar to titles such as Dark Messiah and Oblivion. Players are able to venture into dungeons surrounding the overly cheerful town of Questborough in an attempt to gain items and skills that may assist them in purging the evil that has overtaken the town's castle.

From the FAQ:

Is modding possible?
Yes, being built upon the Darkplaces engine the game is mod-friendly so you can map, code and model to your heart's content if you're so inclined.

Is Berserker Quest a rogue-like?
No. Berserker Quest lacks a number of the defining characteristics of roguelikes including turn based gameplay and truly random dungeons. I prefer to think of Berserker Quest as a first person hack and slash RPG with some roguelike elements.

There isn't even a Berserker Quest 1 let alone a 2, 3. 4 or 5!

Yeah, well, close enough by my reckonings.   8)   Last release was a bit over a year ago, and this one got delayed by quite a good bit.  Here's to hoping for brisk and lively progress in 2012.

Nice to see, i was waiting for new version. Played a couple of time, also in lan with 2-3 friends and it's not bad at all.
Parrying it's not banal and alternate hit has its sense.
I just tried new version on cemetery (good musci adn atmosphere!), armor is a nice addition but maybe shoul be balanced. Found something called colossal armor, player was VERY slow, too much slow and too much resilient.  Maybe in multiplayer is better balanced (someone else can scout and armored one is a moving fortress).

v1.1 finally happened:

Quote
There are so many new features and content that I can't even list them all in this space.

Features:
· Challenging real-time first person combat
· Co-op dungeon crawling for up to 4 players
· A variety of weapons, magic and armor to find
· Four completed dungeons to explore
· Approx 8 hours gameplay!
· A huge variety of enemies and bosses to destroy
· Voice acting and a fantastic musical score
· Ostriches!

Please note: It was down to the goddamn wire getting this all ready for my self-imposed deadline and as such I didn't get to do as much testing as I would have liked, so if you find anything wrong please let me know via email, comment, youtube message or carrier pigeon.
