Just curious if anyone else has played and enjoyed Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nosferatu:_The_Wrath_of_Malachi

I think it's an awesome game and very roguelike. Each time you play the game, the rooms are randomly generated except for a few and some events that always happen. The atmosphere is fantastic for a horror game and has quite a few good scares.

It can be a little buggy, graphics aren't the best, and the time restraints on some events are a little annoying, but still one of my favorite games. And the only real 3d first person game I feel has a very good roguelike feeling. Except for the lack of character generation that is. I think Dungeon hack is the only other first person game with randomly generated levels, but I think this one is way better.

Anyone else play and enjoy it?

Here's a couple vids. I don't think they really do the game justice, but here they are anyways.

I'm always interested in action or first person roguelike.. thank you Legend I'll try this one!
What I enjoy the most in roguelikes: Anti-Farming and Mac Givering my way out. Kind of what I also enjoy in life.

It is! At least I think so. I especially like how the screen is intentionally a little grainy with film scratches like old horror movies.

You actually get a chance to try it out?

Glad I could help some more people find this cool little known game.

Yes, I'm playing it these day and even if it has not much to spare with roguelikes I really like it. I manage to find the doctor and then lead him to the dying monk, then I say to them to stay there (am I doing right?) and the best I did was killing that quick vampire on the roof and then the sleeping one in the black coffin. I play easy mode but without saving (permadeath). Never found the machinegun, am I missing something? and what happens if the doctor, the monk, the aunt, etc all die?

Yeah. The only part that is roguelike(ish) is the random layout of (most) the castle and random placement of (most) the relatives you have to save. It completely lacks character development which is a major part of most roguelikes.

You have to take them to the sanctuary. All the relatives you save have to be taken to the sanctuary to be completely safe. Otherwise, they could still be killed by monsters.

I also play without saving so it feels like permadeath.

You have to rescue a particular relative in order to get the machine gun.

If 7 of the relatives die, then the game is over. If you manage to rescue 14 out of the 15 relatives, then the game skips to the final battle with the count. I don't think the dog counts towards that though.
