Is it just the Ultima'ish odd perspective that throws it or something more?  That latest screenshot on the screenshot page seems to have things looking solid'ish, if a bit jaggy/blurry maybe.

I would have to agree with that. I'm not sure if I'd consider that "Ultima-ish" as Getter77 describes.

There are some pretty neat features implemented. I think if they had a designer refurbish their GUI it might explode a bit more with popularity.

There are roughly 3-10 people online at a time it seems.

I certainly wish them the best, the last thing we need is another dead and abandoned "MMORPG."

Well, I meant moreso the viewing angle of some of the older Ultima moreso than the stylings---drove plenty of people insane in Knights of the Chalice until they acclimated to it.  I don't know of any modern games that hew to it save those deliberately aiming for that nebulous nostalgia target.
