Ginormo sword's a pretty good timekiller, but it gets really grindy as you progress through it.

I think the develpoers made it intentionally grindy and basilar (kill rat, get stuff, repeat infinite times but change rat with dragon) to mock up those "action" rpgs very popular nowaday (world of warcraft and all that stuff) that only offer a repetitive action over time.

It only gets really terrible around where you get to Death.  If someone wants to play this, but is afraid of the grind, then just play up to after you beat the Snow Queen and call it quits.

The best way to go through is to give one of your swords water properties, and another fire properties (the second one you get starts with weak fire ability, so that's the best choice).  Then you'll be able to inflict the most important types of elemental damage up to that point, and will help some of the boss battles go much more smoothly.

Playing this makes we wish that I had this game as a kid on my old Atari 2600.

Here's my Ginormo Sword walkthrough:

Get money for the katana and buy it, put every fire stone you find into that, and every water stone into your starting dagger.

Kill guys and level up your swords until the fourth world, where you need to buy magic missile.  Go back to killing guys.

Get the buckler in the fifth world asap.

Use your fire katana in Poseidon's world.

Grind until you can kill the sorceress.

Use your water dagger on Efreet.   Grind Poseidon's world for water jewels if you need to.

Use your fire katana on the Lizardman Assassin.  Grind Efreet for fire jewels if you need to. 

Kill guys until after you've beaten the Snow Queen.

Grind for 20 years (real life time) in the frozen wastes.

Easily kill the dragon boss.

Get creamed by Death.

Grind the frozen wastes for 50 years.

Kill Death, and then get creamed by the next boss.

Repeat the process of grinding the frozen wastes for inordinate amounts of time and fighting bosses until you have cleared the game.
