It's often like this when bad economic situation is combined with careless refugee politics. It's going to give more voters to conservative/right wing politics, because people are looking for "quick" answers for those problems. We can see this in many countries of EU which earlier were more socialistic. In purely democratic sense it's not a problem, but the rise of some populistic parties has I think messed up real life politics in a bad way.

Our new rulers are conservatives in, hm, moral things, but in economy they are rather left wing than right. However there is no denying that one of causes losing the elections by the ruling party is their agreement to taking refugees. Interestingly - we have not pure left-wing political party in parliament now.

I guess in many cases socialist parties have made it easy for people to move away from that kind of thinking, because they live in the past where almost everything was funded with taxes and that money could be distributed quite carelessly.. But it doesn't work in global market situation where economic competition is extremely hard. Finland is one of those countries who has borrowed money to pretend that our state is still working as it should. It's not and the situation is getting worse. In that the right-wing politicians have easy job to convince people that they can fix those problems. But we see in countries like USA that it's even worse for average and poor people.
