UnReal World: Is it worth the money?
« on: August 11, 2009, 11:46:00 PM »
The title says it.  How many here have played it, and is it good?  I've been eyeing it, but the cost ($50 if you want access to all of the updates that come out, or $10 if you want to wait a long time for full updates to come out)  seems a bit steep.  What do those here think of UnReal World?

In either case, I'd wait for this latest and greatest major version to hit in the nearish future.  For good or ill, though probably for good, it looks to be a major revision.   Kinda like how Incursion will be better suited to judge in part once Oct31st rolls around...  :fingers crossed:

/has a lifetime UnReal World license despite not having the time to spend any real time with it yet.  Good music on the exit screen though!

I never did. I actually never played any UnReal engine game except The Last Remnant.

It is a nice game, and seems very complex. I played it for a while. Just download it and try for yourself before considering to buy.

Here's something that might help!

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3048999&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1

If the link doesn't work, dunno what to say...browse back the Games forum on Somethingawful and it should show up!

I used to play it a long time ago, it was a good *survival simulation* back then, it was too harsh in gameplay terms (most fights ended up in death),  don't know how it has evolved.

I loved the CONCEPT. Especially it's insane depth. I just couldn't stand the engine. It felt as if I was playing a game in some sort of "Windows Office" application..almoast waiting for that annoying paper-clip to pop up at me.

I like games (espeically RLs) to be clean-cut, stylish, nicely polished.. Don't think I managed to play more than one or two games before the engine and horrible graphics just got the better of me. I think it could be great if it was text-only.
