Spelunky

Hey, I came across an interesting game recently which advertises itself as a cross between a roguelike and an action platformer.  While it's far from a pure roguelike, I thought it shared enough traits that some of you would enjoy it.

Essentially you're an Indiana Jones style explorer going through several levels of a cave.  The stages are randomly generated and the player can find tools that allow them to change the damage the terrain, among other things.  The player is allowed some persistence between game sessions, but death is permanent and means going back to the title screen.

If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, give it a shot!

I had nothing to do with the creation of this game.

It's very nice old school platform game. Menus are crazy. I think the time limit for levels is too small, though. I hate time limits.

The game is absolutely great. Derek Yu did it GameMaker... which is a bummer because it won't work in Linux.

Still, I highly, highly recommend it!

Saw this on NeoGAF a few days back...looks to have lots of potential as everything gets ironed out as time goes by.  Good stuff already though.  8)

I discovered this a day or so ago.  I was going to post this here too, but I guess I was beat to it.    :)

Very addicting game.  I would like to see more games, with a rogue-like influence, like this.
