If anyone wants to try D - Have fun with lots of compiler errors  ;) But its a good alternative to c++, i'm using it for game development; and my aborted roguelike is written in D.

From the wikipedia article, it doesn't seem like a very good bet... too bad, I really wanted a proper alternative to standard C++... Imagine a perfect Java compiler to machine code, I swoon at the thought! Apparently GCJ compiles most of the 1.4 java libraries and some 1.5, but I'm not quite sure that's enough!
