Might & Magic X project
« on: July 20, 2011, 12:29:48 PM »
Some Might & Magic IX fans are willing to make by themselves the last chapter of the awesome Might & Magic saga.. if you want to help them here are their threads:
http://telp.org/mm9/tavern/anyboard/posts/41400.html
http://www.thegaminguniverse.org/forum/index.php?topic=40648.0

(edit: and here another MMX project I just found:
http://www.celestialheavens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9117&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
maybe it should be better if they joined their efforts)

I really loved M&M games, and even if IX was somewhat disappointing (no flying, shallowest NPCs ever, not much crafting, etc) I have to say that I still really liked it.

Any M&M appreciators here at RogueTemple?

I like Might And Magic 6-9 very much, but I don't think that small fans group can create something that can be named M&MX.
Might and Magic 9 imho was good game... as alpha version, not finished product.

The are awesome mods around for Wizardry 8 (Deathstalker's V3.0, Flamestryke's V1.1, Dodd the Slayer's V3.4 "The Rise of the Anciemts", Qusari's V1.5 "Lunastralis") and Might & Magic 6 (BDJ's MM6 "The Chaos Conspiricy") and 7 (BDJ's MM7 Rev4Rel2) that completely redefined the approach to the games introducing a lot of features.. I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to make a game by themselves.

Even with Telp 1.3a patch, MM9 is still half baked.. looks like they quitted working on 1.4 in 2006.
There is however a guy intentioned to make a last improved version:

I haven't ever played "might and magic", only "heroes of", what kind of games are they? what are their strong points and shortcomings?
The invisible hand is a lie, the fiendish dogma of the market cultists. Lest the apostasy grows strong, their blood god will devour each and everyone, pious and infidel alike.

Original MM games are a totally different thing from Heroes of MM.

Ever played Eye of the Beholder saga? Pretty much like that, but without d&d rules and with many added cool features (flying, some randomization, advanced party progression management, etc) and -huge- worlds to explore.

If you don't mind bad graphics, even pre-6 MM were good stuff.

But I'd say 6 and 8 were the best of the saga.
