Wouldn't it be awesome to give 100.000 € each to Thomas Biskup, Kornel Kisielewicz, DCSS devs, Lost Labyrinth devs and so on so that they can focus more on developing?
If I manage to make a lot of money I'm sure I'll do something like that.

I think for Thomas it's not the money, it's just his attitude of being an adult and that doesn't include roguelike development. He was a carefree student when he created ADOM, but those days are over.

I wouldn't give money to polish people. They aren't good with money, it makes them go crazy. It's better that Poland is a poor country, now and always. It's what makes them creative!

Thomas has recently written something about this on the ADOM blog: The genie and the bottle I think this does not agree with Krice's opinion.

I think that the crowdfunding model is great for this case. There are lots of fans who say they would like to give 100.000 € to Thomas Biskup (or someone else), but they don't have the money. But they still have some. If something like Cardinal Quest or Expedition can get several thousand dollars via 8bitfunding, then 100.000 € for something like ADOM does not seem unrealistic.

I have tried to send my thoughts to TB, but the obvious ways seem impossible. Thomas seems to use arcane techniques to prevent people from replying to him. He seems not to read the ADOM forum, and it is impossible to comment the blog (registration has been turned off). And the Facebook is not done correctly. (E-mail could work, but I don't want to disturb him.)

It's a difficult situation for him. He must go to work and that takes a lot of time. His schedule is so ridiculous that he doesn't have time for hobby projects like ADOM or JADE. So it's useless to share thoughts. he simply can't listen them. I think it's like that for many people who aim high in their career. TB will some day be a professor and you don't get that by wasting time on roguelike development.

I have a lot of respect for TB having played ADOM and I respect his decision to not open-source his "baby".

I think he got into the current predicament because he didn't clearly draw the line i.e. definitively state that ADOM in his eyes was considered 'done' and he would no longer be working on it.

While that message is probably pretty clear by now (having been written on the wall) he probably could have saved himself a lot of grief if that was communicated 10 years ago.

As for JADE... I figure it is a classic case of "second-system effect".  Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Ok, no money for Biskup then!

But I disagree about Kornel; the dude may be polish but he looks serious about roguelikes (and imagine how much stuff could come from 100k and that "features for money" thing)!
