what would be good game features for a semi-roguelike game..
« on: September 15, 2007, 03:19:12 PM »
I have "stolin" a maze generator and have modified a graphics library to behave like crt (for pascal, maybe some curses atributes) .  I am playing around with ideas like making it easy to design maps (with monsters exc) for the game and allowing charecters to be able to build castles exc...  Is this something that would interest anyone...  lets say it is go land (because I don't have a name for it yet)... I have the maze generator on the wiki (I hacked one that was html and would like other ones)..
The changes I have made to the library (for free pascal are here) and the link to the google board also has the map gen..  good to hear some ideas..

Building feature is very cool thing which I have been developing. I like the idea of "sandbox" features which don't have to be that important for the gameplay, but may help also. When you think the current roguelikes it's obvious that only feature is combat and how to become better at combat (or killing enemies another way). I'm just getting sick of it really. I plan to have minimum amount of combat and lots of other things in my game.

Hey, Krice.

There has been a discussion about what you're talking about, on this topic. Some people have left their ideas there, most of them are interesting! Have a look at it if you want!
