Tower Defence games.
« on: January 28, 2012, 02:15:34 PM »
I am ashamed to admit I have been playing a few of these lately  ::)  I find a lot of these online time killers and doing just that, killing time.

I have been playing Kingdom Rush on Kongregate.  http://www.kongregate.com/games/Ironhidegames/kingdom-rush
I am getting to grips with the difficulty a lot, I find it quite hard.

I enjoy these from time to time too but they never got my attention for long. Did you play Zot Defense by any chance?

I love TDs back from times when I played War Craft III :)

These days I'm mostly playing iOS TDs. Geo Defense, Geo Defense Swarm, Ninja TD, Jelly TD, Epic War TD.

I'm not really a fan of pure tower defence games.

But games like Dungeon Defenders, which mixes tower defence with hack-n-slash combat, can be quite fun.

I've been working to max out my reinforcement strength. It seems the most flexible ability. I am also using a lot of bombards at the entry points. I've tried arrows and it doesn't seem quite as good. They tend to bunch up there so the splash damage works better. I tend to put mage towers at the end of the level to catch Deathknights and other immune guys.

hehe I have lost a few more hours :)

Yeah, ranged attack with choke points is the key.  If there are two entrances I find it best to work out which ones are more likely to have armour and put mage towers there, and put cannons for mobs with magic defence at the other entrance. I usually put two cannons or two mage towers at the entrances to do as much damage as I can.

Guards do the least amount of damage but will hold things up but dont use too many of them. I learnt that the hard way :( Grave sites are best dealt with by having ranged attack on them, a rangers tower and a cannon.  Always soften up your enemies before they meet your soldiers or they will walk straight through.

And yep some sort of ranged attack at the exit to get those few stragglers.
I am really struggling with the last level, I get to wave the second last wave and I get smashed.  Damn necromancers!

I spent quite a lot of time on Revenge of the Titans - kind of a mix of TD and RTS.
