Maybe piercing (arrows) could take little amounts of HP

This will probably make long range weapons either less useful or having same problem as mentioned earlier.

I think the problem is in the one dimensional way of reducing HP which makes ranged weapons that powerful. I think there should be another kind of damage for projectiles like arrows. Sticky weapon damage. Doesn't kill you right away, but takes away HP slowly like poisoning. For added realism you could set the number of arrows sticking on body and make a command to remove them.

That was a pretty stupid comment on my part.

Perhaps not so stupid after all. I have been an ass in rgrd, but I hope it's now over, because I have had a personal enlightenment.. a kind of.

I think these alternative features could be a part of traditional roguelike hack and slash. The possibilities are endless of course, but the bad thing is that some of the features are like mini games and possibly quite hard to implement. Having all these extra features can be difficult task to do. It's probably best just have one main feature distinctive to that game so it's easier to do. Anyway, even if you add one extra feature to an average hack and slash RL will make it better and more interesting I believe.

Building feature is very cool thing which I have been developing. I like the idea of "sandbox" features which don't have to be that important for the gameplay, but may help also. When you think the current roguelikes it's obvious that only feature is combat and how to become better at combat (or killing enemies another way). I'm just getting sick of it really. I plan to have minimum amount of combat and lots of other things in my game.

I think the community wouldn't be as great as it is now, everyone willing to discuss and help a bit. Well, except for Krice.

Well thank you.
My adventure began.. way back then. Playing Hack, Larn, Rogue etc.. and Nethack (most important) convinced me that I want to make a roguelike too.
