Last year I made an ecological simulation.  This year I made a roguelike.  It is amazing how much easier the roguelike game was to develop.

I don't see how that has any connection to being gay.

I had an idea for a game where creatures have short quests for you to do (fetch my foozle that fell in the water, moove that rock so it doesn't block my door) and in return you get a whistle that you can use once to have them repay the favor.  The frog can get stuff from the bottom a pool, the mouse can squeeze through tight cracks to fetch something for you, the bear can move heavy things out of the way and so on.   I envision it playing somewhat like Brogue's quest rooms.

I've actually seen that approach taken with a hay bale maze before.  To complete the maze you needed to find a path of 3 repeating colors to the exit (red, yellow, green, red, yellow, green ...).  So adults would have fun with a challenging maze.  But their kids ignored the colors and just had fun walking around the hay bales to the exit.

I think that rsaarelm has the proper way to ease someone into permadeath.

Guys guys! You're tearing us apart.  Can't you see that this sort of bickering is what drove away Amy Wang?
I'm sure you can all agree that roguelikes would be much better games if they were casual "match 3" games instead.

But when you try to play soccer with a football it doesn't work how you expect.

If I understand you correctly, you don't feel as if you are progressing unless you can measure yourself against the same measuring stick each time.

Or maybe you simply fail to see my point. Unless you believe that the fact your prefer blue over yellow or vanilla over chocolate is something open for discussion.

We discuss why you prefer blue and vanilla, what other things share the qualities you like about blue and vanilla and whether it is possible to merge the best qualities of blue and yellow and vanilla and chocolate or that they are things that should be only enjoyed separately.

Various bug fixes to make it more pleasant.

added readme
tried to make it more obvious that you need to look with the mouse
critters look at your location this turn rather than last turns location
arrows do not scroll the page anymore
gun can be fired with enter and f in addition to mouse click, new message telling you that it fired

Using the arrow keys moves the page.
Apparently it's pretty easily fixable if you're using javascript:

Thanks, I've made that fix now to my game too.

I've now finished.

Surprisingly for a program written under a time crunch, I really want to keep working with it.
Also even if no one likes it, I enjoy playing it.

Yeah, those borogoves can get pretty stroppy when bothered.
