A-ha! I thought for some reason the game is entirely mouse driven. Works fine now!

Seems like a cool game too..though bit busy now, will have to play more later.

What does "Schildkröten" stand for anyway?

Tried the new version, it freezes on the start screen (there`s some gfx and words START/QUIT).

Strange, because my system is similar to yours - Win 8.1 64x, 780 Ti with new-ish drivers.

Mind, blown. These images...and "Knight v Snail V:  Revenge of the Snail"...oh-my-word. Made my Saturday ;)

Not sure if this counts as "pop" culture...well, at least not as trite as we know it. But it`s always good to be reminded/enlightened that the medieval folk had peculiar sense of humour too and didn`t take the world too seriously. The conventional wisdom of super serious knights and times needs this injection for sure.

Wanted to post but it just flashes in a nanosecond and disappears. I`m console illiterate so if you could tell me how to get to this error message...

Unsurprisingly, quite brilliant. And that`s just simple-but-deep gameplay, however the real highlight for me is the game`s vibe and humour - qualities so rare to find these days in an unforced state or propped up by pop-referencing. I`d like to think Mr Cervantes would love it too ;)

And this is just genius:

You should, like, make a big game. Or something. Got a feeling it would be fun (loads of).

Crashes right at the start on Win 8.1 x64...

This has great potential to be a really fun hack`n slash killfest. Hope you stick with it.

At the moment it could use a bit more immediacy maybe - got down to level 4 and things started getting difficult and interesting there, three previous ones were just steamrolling over zombies and skeletons. That`s bit too long - one "easy" level is enough imo. Also, it`s a gameshow not a structured dungeon so you can go wild from the get go: I`m sure  the audience would appreciate it. So, I think it`s okay to release some strong enemies early, maybe the longer the player lingers on the level and so on...causing mad dashes to the exit...think Rome cruelty/entertainment style.

Also, would appreciate a save function, unless I missed it somewhere.

Map legend explaining elevation colours could be useful to have somewhere on the side. Yep, having to remember 3 different ones or having to reach for the mouse is definitely challenging (#1stwrldprblm)

Well , I was kinda hoping Mouse Events pertain to immediate arrival of vainglorious Rodent Cavalry.

It's about US military decoration, not about heart as organ - it's for clarification

I figured that out mate - I grew up obsessed with Platoon :D

This version http://www.gog.com/game/pirates_gold_plus would be good then?

This isn`t as bad as the 3D one, but the 1987 original is still the best, IMO. Naval combat, dueling and sailing, even though they look plain and simplistic are super tight and very in-depth. You can still find it if you look around. C64 version would also do (that`s the one I sank countless days into...playing with sort of forced hardware Ironman mode - I could not afford a disk drive, so played from a tape version, and if you messed up and wanted to reload you`d have to spend half an hour waiting. Heady days!)

About feedback in general...well, you said earlier: "writing only for myself isn`t enough for me to keep going" - I see the point, but to be honest sometimes it`s the only way, especially starting in the RL world. If you look at other projects here, sometimes people get a page or two - or none - of comments, but then it all goes quiet. That doesn`t mean you shouldn`t write your game... I think strong belief is half of success, and you definitely should "write for yourself" - and then see what happens. If the game is strong, people will play it, that`s for sure.

But I`m not a dev, so take it with a pinch of salt :)

I didn`t play original one, but the 3d remake and this what my opinion is based off.

I thought as much. The original is the one to play since it`s just perfect and  the sequels and remakes were spoiled in one way or another (crap fencing, ship-to-ship combat, worldmap sailing etc)
And yeah, the 3D one was way too cuddly... plus it had dancing (ugh).

Agree with Tzan`s remarks though it`s hard to say what your plans really are regarding all the key aspects just from the little info here. To be honest, what I would really like to see is another Pirates! :D since they really nailed it there.  Only with more procedural stuff maybe...

Point is I am tired of all those child-like version of those times (looking at you Sid Meier Pirates!)

Ummm...calling one of the best - if not the best - videogame of all time "child like" is probably not the wisest way to start a pitch. I`m always in the market for a pirate themed game, even though over the years most of them were abysmal failures (looking at you, Pixel Piracy)...but boy, with that spiel you really set the bar impossibly high.

Good luck  8)
