Is there a way to get the black edition without steam?

122
Is there still the free version?

Have a mirror for the download? For some reason, I can't seem to get it. Tried several times tonight and last night. Keeps saying download failed. Network error.

Try this one: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/95372567/TToTd20_Stable01.zip

Thanks.  That worked.

How do I enable fullscreen? I didn't see anything in the options menu or help file. Alt+enter doesn't seem to work either.

Are you sure you have SDL not console build?

I was using the console version originally.  Tried the sdl one. Had to put it into software render mode to work. How do I get all ascii display on the sdl version? the retroascii tiles seem to be partially ascii but also some graphical tiles.

No way to make console version ascii? sdl gets a little laggy on my xp laptop.

Design / Re: Are MMORPG's games?
« on: July 16, 2014, 02:37:33 AM »
Personally, I see mmorpg's as more of a type of social media. Just a slightly more interactive kind with eye candy and whistles. Just really a way to kill time, much like windows solitaire, only with a social aspect and no defined win/lose condition.

I've tried a few, but none ever really held my attention or had a real goal or dire consequences for errors to keep me playing.

They really do seem like just big grind-fests to me. But unlike older rpg grind-fests (eastern and western crpg's), there was at least a story to keep you going or an ultimate end goal.

This is actually currently on sale for %80 off. Only $1.99 on indie royale.

The game itself looks at least fairly fun.

I guess it is. I sometimes forget that younger players haven't experienced the original era of 8-bit (or 16-bit) games. For older players those new retro games offer nothing but sad memories of wasting youth playing crappy computer games.

I hope you're not assuming I'm a youngsters? In my 30's and grew up in the 8-bit to 16-bit era of console and computer games. First system I had was a 2600. First computer was c64.

Anyways, I know these guys don't truly replicate 8-bit or 16-bit styles. It's just pixel art. A lot of these games that use pixel art try to say they are 8 bit, when it really isn't.

I think shovel knight comes closest of the recent bunch, but still uses an extended color palette I think.

But that doesn't mean they don't still have their charm. And usually when mostly try to replicate the gameplay of earlier games, which I think most succeed at. Volgarr the Viking is a pretty good example as well as shovel knight.

Yeah, I doubt it has many rl elements and I can't find that much info detailing the specifics of gameplay. The game itself looks at least fairly fun. My intention was mostly to point out how fun I thought the trailer was. The trailer is interesting in the voice over work and how it tries to describe the gameplay through a narration.  Though, admittedly, it kinda fails at really depicting the gameplay properly.

I do believe there is some sort of bot ai from what I gathered in order to let the game be played single player.

Still, I just thought it was fun and wanted to share.

Just found this game coming soon simply called Crawl. It has got to have one of the best trailers ever that really made me want to play the game.

http://www.powerhoof.com/crawl/

The voice over work on the trailer is just great and the best part for me. The game itself looks pretty cool. But  I just thought thr trailer itself was worth mentioning and sharing.

Not that much info about it. I couldn't tell if it had any rl elements, so I put it here. If it does turn out to have more rl elements, maybe the thread could be moved.

Anyways, check it out. Awesome trailer.

It's on steam greenlight too.

Victory!

That's a damn good idea Legend.

My dream-never-to-be-built Roguelike will have this feature.

What feature? The random music?  Or the feature of some idjit overlooking simple things and making a thread  wondering why it doesn't work so the world can see his lameness?  :P
