Early Dev / Re: Collateral Souls (0.8 Beta)

Great game imho. I was charmed from a first sight.
The minor problems I see after several plays and winning are
1. lack of running\at least autorepeat of keys, so moving a long distances is boring. Due to lack of running game also feels "laggy".
2. Low number of feats and some feats being overpowered.

The concept of character development is great, and existing feats are brilliant, but really - Light armor that deals tiny damage to enemies near you vs. demon armor upgrade that allow to hide in shadows and so kill all ranged monster without taking damage at all. I think it is obvious which is better.
Vampiric shotgun imho is better then other weapons too, but i agree that sniper rifle with mentioned armor can be nice too. I don't see a use for an assault rifle though.

Finnish courts continue stealing children from russian mothers. The only thing i don't understand - why are Russia don't do anything more serious then sending armed tourists buying lands.

If the bug is random it may be possible to continue game after getting emergency save. If it is made reproducible through savefile it could be sent to me for examination. Either way it sounds like a good idea.
That would be great, because I liked this game and now played about hundred or so characters with latest version.
Crashes without saving are annoying, but they are pretty rare, so i consider them as yet another instadeath accidents.

Another instadeath events, that imho aren't ok:
 - pit with an acid is fatal and you can't do anything if you fall there.
 - when going downstairs, there is a chance to appear in aliens nest. In that case character sometimes don't appear on the stair tile, resulting in almost certain death. I'm not sure is it a bug or funny joke.

I haven't saved log as started a new game already, but encountered the same problem several times at holidays.
The problem is: The game crashes (rarely), when i'm hitting someone with either melee or ranged weapon.
Log says nothing about disaster - last string is "In what direction?" in case of ranged attack or just says about previous attack (in case of melee).
I'm trying it on two laptops with Win7 x64, and the problem appears on both. I'm using ascii mode.
I can't find your email in profile, but there is a link to one of such logs in case it can help (this time i attacked goblin with optical blast): http://sourceforge.net/projects/weightlessness/files/dbg.Asus.zip/download

I suggest to add a crashlog. When playing as Xel-Naga game always crashes after several turns. Then i started a really successful Dissident, but the game crashes around level 6 when i tried to attack someone (can't remember letter).
Otherwise, great game!

I'm playing new version without tiles, because i don't like these tiles too. And Ultraviolence difficulty is.... ultraviolent. I got to level 94 (Ao100) in it, but only once.

Quick question - do you ever buy games at all?  Retail/Online?  Or just ride the waves of torrent goodness?   No need to reply if the question is inappropriate.
I bought a few, as a birthday present etc., but mostly use a torrents. So i didn't wanted to say something bad about your game, just pointed out that you missed third answer in your poll.

About your game - it's a really well done roguelike with nice graphics and animation.
Gameplay is slightly too simple though - no special tactics or planning, the only interesting thing is your wolf. Of course, it's ok for 7drl.

For me it crashes when i try to cast a spell and crashes when i'm closing with the edge of map.
Oh, and it don't repaint screen when i close help.

The "collection has been modified" thing basically means that I was trying to modify some collection of objects while I was looping over it, so the looping operation failed. I could see this happening with a fireball spell (looping over group of monsters and one of them dies), but not with a healing spell. Guess I'll have to take a snapshot of the state of the collection and loop over that instead...
Well, i'm not really sure about healing - it crashed once when i wasn't using fireball, but i can't reproduce it now. Maybe i just mispressed key.
About making snapshot - in my games i don't delete killed monsters immediately, but just mark them as "dead" and remove at the end of turn, it makes things much simpler.

If you have a Bitbucket account, would you mind filing an issue on the repo? Not sure when I'll get around to fixing these bugs, but it wouldn't hurt to have them logged in case I do decide to go back and fix them :) If you don't have a Bitbucket account, that's fine; I can file it myself.
No, i haven't.

2) And if it was a freemium RPG - what are the kind of things you would be okay with paying for and not feel like we are trying to rip you off or make a "pay-to-win" gimmick?  (Adding a quick poll to help capture feedback.)
I'll never pay for a game or for in-app items, but i'll try it if it will be free-to-try or look at torrents for full version :)

When compiling form source it works, and it really have a VERY interesting mechanics.
Possibility to reposition party according to enemies is very fun, even though monsters are going to kill my mage no matter where he stands.

Also sometimes when casting a spell (Fireball and possibly Heal) game crashes with exception "collection has been modified and cannot be enumerated" (i've used "tip" source, not 7drl one, maybe thats the problem).

Well messages say nothing - "Application work was stopped, you can close it, debug or look in internet for solution".
I have .NET 4.0, .NET 3.5 SP1 and .NET 3.0 SP2 installed.
I'll try to install c# and compile it from source.

Running on Win7 x64: application starts, shows white window and crashes (crash window picture: ). Are sure it doesn't require any data files (as there is only exe and html in archive)?

Well, except blinking and some other interface issues (things aren't visible under corpses, no information about which inventory item heal what, help dont works after appearing some messages in log) game is not bad.
Monsters aren't just letters, but have different abilities, and selecting a spell with corresponding radius is fun. I didn't get after first two levels, mainly because don't looking on hp, will try it later.
