Other Announcements / Compiling Angband

has anyone ever actually tried to do it? it seems like every variant ive looked at so far has the same compiling instructions. me being new to *nix i cant seem to figure them out. it says to edit the makefile before you do "make install" how am i supposed to know what to edit in what makefile? theres like 13 makefiles in the steamband sources alone.

just incase anyone cares the tomenet client has been recently updated. theyve added duel wielding and parrying. and by the looks of it are testing out sword blocking and stances on the test server.

as of today having discovered dragonforce(awesome band) thats all ill be listening to for a long time.

anyone into pen & paper rpgs? I've been interested in getting into them, and was wondering where to start. I don't know much about the differences in systems or anything. I had some friends that used gurps and they seemed to like it a lot. I know I've got a couple friends that would be down to play, now one of us just needs to figure it out.

it seems to me that people must not be very interested in tomenet. I mean a lot of people do play but whenever I've been on no more that 7 or 8 half of which don't seem to communicate with anyone anyways. I'd like to see more multiplayer roguelikes, maybe done in an easier to use way.

perhaps we can run roguetemple comps? I know theres the angband comps and they run em on the adom brinkster forums, but whatabout here? this forum is for all roguelikes so how about comps for different games? I'm only slightly proficient with adom (getting more and more into da `bands) but I need incentive to win...that or I'm doomed to YASD every game

I never really got into usenet. but this here seems so much more fresh. like just the thing to get the community excited. so what gives?
I guess the sites still new. either way good job roguetemple.
