IRDC US - Do you want to give a talk? Also help.

I'm looking for speakers for a potential US version of IRDC to take place in Atlanta (Georgia Institute of Technology) this summer. Having some cool talks and demos would definitely help push things along.

Secondarily I'm looking for an idea of how many people would actually show up. I've brought up the topic here before and responses seemed decent. It seems clear that most people will NOT fly across the ocean for IRDC, so we will probably just end up with two versions.
Thirdly I'm looking for someone to help me organize.

Poll is already closed.

Also having 2 polls and having to merge the data (how do I know who voted in both?) sounds like a bad idea to me. And we do a poll only on roguetemple people have to register an account to vote.

Since votes pretty much pettered out to nothing these past 2 days, I've just closed the poll.

Results:

2-4 may 2014      16   35%
9-11 may 2014      17   37%

The date remains at 9-11 may 2014.

Oh, we already re-approved it for the next 5 years in IRDC2013 - I believe your flight was delayed when that happened.

Date is currently set to 9-11 May 2014 (Friday to Sunday). Venue in Berlin is to be announced.

usenet thread on google groups: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.games.roguelike.development/fJe8IJspvSo/ryCOp5c4uyEJ

Hi,
it has been a few good months since IRDC 2013 in Poznan, graciously organized by Radomir Dopieralski. The time has come to decide upon IRDC 2014.

Please post your location/time suggestions below only if *YOU PERSONALLY* are willing to organize it in said locations. Don't post "would be nice if someone would do it at x", unless a specific someone already said they are committed to organizing it there.

Time should be at least a good half year or so from today, so as to give people ample time to make sure they can arrive.

-Ido.

EDIT:
See 3rd message on this thread, location has been chosen. vote on the date!

EDIT 2:
The date remains at 9-11 may 2014, see results below.

I don't understand what some of these complaints are, maybe it would be better to just make it matter of fact instead of making every option into a joke.

i think one thread I *can* weave through a lot of replies here, be it too many keys, unnecessarily detailed  skills, overly complex char generation, barriers to play in the form of obscure dependencies, obtuse/unclear/undocumented mechanics, unexplained controls, etc is that extraneous complexities that don't contribute to the core strength of the experience should be cleaned up.

Which again is kind of an obvious conclusion these days, although it wasn't that obvious 5+ years ago apparently (judging by how recently developers started to act upon it).
