Traditional Roguelikes (Turn Based) / DarkDire

Hello good roguelike players I thought this little gem should be known to be public I hope i'm not doing something bad but I think every good indie game deserves some love or at least people to know it exists, this game has been amazing so far it's like a roguelike ultima online in a way seems to be inspired a lot by dndness too

Will there be some kind of towns since you plan to add bigger houses? Or the world is pretty desolate in general?
Yes, I'm planning a starting town with a few bounties/quests to get you started, plus random towns and pueblos dispersed across the land. But maintaining the general feel of a wild landscape, with unsettled expanses between the various outposts of civilization.

This is exciting news, your game is shaping up to be a dream game for me aswell btw :D I can't wait for those updates much love from this player!

Will definitely announce releases here, thanks for the encouragement 8) In other (old) news, for a western RL you might check out Abura Tan, although it was abandoned rather early. Also, I get the feeling that Gearhead might be down your alley.

PS. Yup, the wastes in LoSt just go on and on forever. One of the things I must do for the next version, is to make the game world bigger (but still enclosed by endless wasteland), including bigger houses with rooms and furniture, and just more space overall. I'm dreaming of a random train station where you can buy a ticket "out of here" and board a train that carries indefinitely on into the wastes as the screen fades to brown :P

That would be awesome! Will there be some kind of towns since you plan to add bigger houses? Or the world is pretty desolate in general?

Wow love your game so far :D and the style is very unique!!!! I haven't played much yet i just got into it but thanks a lot and i look forward to your development in the future !
Thank you! Knowing there is at least a single person interested is highly motivational ;) The current version (#10) is a bit meagre, with the next release planned to have more gamey features: in particular, bounties (quests) and skill advancement – but I also need to rewrite chunks of the world building code, which I'm not looking forward to. On the bright side, that'll probably leave me with a robust enough system that I can concentrate on adding fun content for a while after that.

As always,
Minotauros

I got lost in the dunes i think! No the wastes! But i figured maybe it's because the game is not complete, i could walk for ages in the wastes :D I really look forward to more, will you post on these forums?

Thanks for the heads up. The download links on the blog should be working again now. I've been having very little spare time lately, but it seems I'll be able to pick up development again in a few weeks. And while riding isn't in yet, it's definitely very high on the todo-list (don't know about boats, but handcars would be neat).

Player's Plaza / Looking for sci-fi or wild west roguelike
« on: April 19, 2017, 07:55:36 PM »
Greetings i have played roguelikes for years, especially the oldschool ASCII ones like Dwarf Fortress and ADOM, I am more interested in open-world fashioned roguelikes with overworld than single dungeon ones and i find it really hard to find a wild west/cowboy roguelike or a spaceship/spacesim one similar to ASCII sector if it can be considered a roguelike. I know of prospector rl and Ascii sector in the sci-fi genre, and post-apocalyptic ones like Cataclysm by whales or cataclysm dda and also Caves of Qud. Could someone please help me if i'm missing an open-world-like or space-sim roguelike other than the ones i mentioned above?

If no such roguelike exists then i hope this is a good suggestion i'd love a roguelike in the vein of Red Ded Redemption where you can ride a horse etc...I have so many questions sorry for adding so much to my thread. Is there any roguelike with exploration where i could ride a horse or have a boat? I know of shadow of wyrm has boats and also quest for the unicorn boats+horses! Any help is appreciated i hope this is the good place to post about this!!!!
