Classic Roguelikes / TileRogue question... Long Sword or Two-Handed Sword?

I've always thought it was the two-handed sword, but since I downloaded Donnie's newest Windows version of TileRogue it seems like it misses way more than the long sword.  Isn't it still the two-handed sword that is supposed to be the best weapon?

I play TileRogue.  I don't know if it's easier or different, but I've beat it a few times.  Is TileRogue one of the versions you play?
