Hi I'm Sam, I've developed games for around 4 years now. I have been a fan of roguelikes ever since I first discovered them but I am yet to develop a proper roguelike game, so I thought I'd enter 7DRL this year and give it ago.
Description:
TLDRL is a roguelike with a focus on varied game mechanics and a fitting story. You play as one of five adventures who is the last survivor of an adventuring party that have just defeated the final boss of a dungeon. Your final quest is twofold, to return to the surface with your winnings and to pass on the news of your companion's deaths.
Hopefully, their will be ten characters in the final game (five locked) each with their own look, abilities and resource systems. A feature that should allow for more than just a different role playing experience instead each character plays in a completely different manner.
Introduction:
Six adventures, a warrior, paladin, mage, barbarian, thief and archer, all weary of adventuring descended for the last time into a dungeon full of evil. They hoped that they might return with enough treasure to each be able to finally retire from the questing game. The trial started well enough but after only a few floors the paladin of the group grew complacent and mistook a trap for a harmless floor tile. The trap was cursed and the cut it created along the paladin's leg refused to be mended by faith alone; this caused them near constant pain. Downward the group marched until the group's leader of seven years, the warrior fell to a stray arrow from a goblin raider. Yet another age seemed to pass before the surviving members of the group finally reached the tomb of The Death Lord, within it's strong stone walls it's said lies treasure of unknown value. With one last look around the group entered the tomb...
Obviously there will be more to come as I create it, but as for now any feedback and advice on the concept is greatly appreciated, cheers.
